The Evolution Of Writing Rhymes (Short Video)
A few days ago, someone posted this video on twitter. It's a really interesting breakdown of the progress of lyricism and the different techniques that contribute to the evolution of writing rhymes.
I doubt that there will be hardly any hip-hop fanatics out there who would be surprised or fascinated with this short video, however it is interesting to see how the art of spitting bars can be explained in a more or less academic manner.........................................................................................................................
Masta Ace with a new album: "The Falling Season" 2016
With guest appearances such as Chuck D, AG, Torae and Wordsworth it's hard to argue that the new album of Masta Ace does not deserve your attention.
"The Falling Season" is an album that will inspire you to go back in your childhood and reminisce of those simple and vital years of High School and College, however the reason for that would not be the sound, but the lyrical content.
Famous for his rhymes and concepts, Masta Ace lives up to his reputation with this project, as listeners will hear themselves, the whole album is a conceptional project. The cover itself, is a nice touch to build a set-up for the story that Ace is telling.
The narrative takes place in the 80's and the main character is a young and lost kid, trapped in the world of limitted oportunities and important choices is living through his high school years.
PS. The format of the album is song-skit-song and this really makes enjoyable to sit and listen to the entire album from start to finish. This really brought me back to the cassette tape era.

"Epidemic" Check Out This Dope Underground Hip-Hop Group and their latest LP
...Here is an Album that deserves the attention of the underground hip-hop peeps, the name is "4 Dimensions on a Paper" by the hip-hop duo Epidemic. Today, while listening to the LP by Hex-One and Tek-nition, I was thinking how nowadays, when it comes to hip-hop, the spectacle of showcasing your skills and unique style is a thing of the past. The individual "Success" and pursuit of fame is what most people would use to identify a powerful MC. Another cliche that the "Tru" fans often discuss is the dead phenomenon of the rap groups. It's strange to think that the time when it would be refreshing to find a dope hip-hop group would come. Back in the days, it seemed that everybody had their crew and everybody wanted to be RUN DMC, Wu-Tang, Onyx, The Fugees, Black Moon or Group Home...

Homeboy Sandman – Kindness for Weakness (Stones Throw Records 2016)
Homeboy Sandman has
been consistent with his lyrics, originality, flow and approach to different
topics since 2007, when he released his debut album "Nourishment".
Now Stones Throw Records have released his 6th LP ""Kindness for
Weakness". My first impression of the album is that people who love
Homeboy Sandman will not be disappointment. The lyrics that can turn a frown
upside down, or force you into squeezing your eyebrows together, doing what not
often listeners nowadays do - thinking, are there. Definitely faithful to his
style, however if I have to use one word to define his approach it would be -
uniqueness. Therefore, I am convince no one would play this album, feeling disappointment,
feeling that his ears were exposed to a typical underground, boom bap hip-hop.

Mr. Green... Talking About Underrated Talents
If you claim you love hip-hop you should be familiar with the name Mr. Green. The producer behind numerous artists such as R.A. the Rugged Man, Freddie Gibbs, Sean Price and other Duck Down projects is perhaps more known for his vice show "Live from the streets". In the series he collaborates with rappers and street musicians to create instrumentals and tracks that even though the unique approach of production are part of what many would consider traditional dope boombap hip hop.

Anderson .Paak - Malibu... the soul album of 2016
If you reminisce the time when hip-hop producers used to get involved with more soulful, mellow projects and artists such as Erykah Badu, D'Angelo and Angie Stone, there is a new Artist that provide that soul - hip-hop fusion feeling for you.
Anderson .Paak mostly famous for being a part of Dr.Dre soundtrack album "Compton", is a singer and songwriter from Oxnard, California. His unique voice, his soulful flow and his expirimental approach to music production is something that deserve attention. My personal believe is that fresh new talant should be something that people let grow and enjoy. This is the reason why, as soon as I heart this young dude's voice I dropped everything and got his latest album "Malibu".
It's refreshing to get your hands on a music withouth knowing how many times the artist was shot, how many follewers on instigram he has, or who he or she dated.
"Malibu" is an album you won't regret paying for, if you love soul and hip-hop, if you believe that real music has its place in todays music industry - do the right thing and check out Anderson .Paak.
