When high level of lyricism and classic boom bap music production meet we get something really dope like "No Questions" by Apollo Brown and Locksmith. Apollo Brown is already a well established produced when it comes to solid collaborative projects, he has released albums with OC, Ras Kass, Skyzoo and Planet Asia. Locksmith on another hand has only one previous collaborative project (with the legendary boombap beat making Ski Beatz) however if you think soulful samples and introspective lyrics go really good together check out this EP for free from the link above.

It's a well known fact by now, that the Roc-A-Fella legend is struggling with kidney failure, but despite his major health problems he does not miss a chance to deliver some dope bars to his fans. Regardless of his sarroundings, from the mainstream success of Jay and his lable - to lyrical monsters such as Sheek Louch or Brother Ali, Freeway has always found a way to stand out with his mic skills. "All falls down" is a single from his up coming solo project - "Think First", which is being crafted as the artist is going through weekly dialysis as he waits for a new kidney...We can only wait to hear how all of these terrible curcimstance will translate into bars !

This year, the underground legend Murs, quality released one of his most honest and introspective project "A Strange Journey Into The Unimaginable" produced entirely by  Michael "Seven" Summers.
"So Close So Far" is just one example, from the 14 track in which Murs deals with some heavy issues such as loosing a baby, depression and dealing with a difficult relationship. The single as well as the whole album present a different, more mature, but not preachy way of delivere a message.

Two things will never stop surprising me. How many hip-hop fans complain about the state of hip-hop, how much they miss the boom bap sound and at the same time how little they support original classic projects. If you are not familiar with the work of this amazing MC and producer from London you need to google the name - LEWIS PARKER. The quality of his latest track is nothing new for his production. Vintage, warm analogue sound, classical samples filtered through the authentic sound of SP1200 combined with soulful original riffs of a bass line or a horn section. Share and comment on this dope video - When it rains it pours.
